CELEBRATING TEN YEARS! IT’S ELECTION TIME IN NOVEMBER FOR THE MCPA “Who
do I vote for?” Decisions
… decisions … We have 5 openings
on the Board of Directors. Voting will take place at our General Election
dinner meeting on Tuesday, October 21, 2008 at 6 p.m. at the Village
Caterers. In January, 2009, the
Board will elect its officers. The
definition of a “paralegal/legal assistant is a person qualified
through education, training or work to perform substantive legal work that
requires knowledge of legal concepts and is customarily, but not
exclusively, performed by lawyer.
This person may be retained or employed by a lawyer, law office,
governmental agency or other entity or may be authorized by administrative,
statutory or court authority to perform this work.” What does
the Board do? It is the mission
of the MCPA to provide a network of communication and support to all of its
members, to act as a forum for the interchange of ideas and take an
effective role in the development and growth of the paralegal profession by
complying with the applicable legal authority governing the jurisdiction in
which the paralegal is practicing.
If there is an issue that needs to be voted on, we act on our
members’ behalf. If
you would like to run for the Board or would like to nominate someone who
you feel would be perfect for the job, please forward a short bio to my

and past place of employment (years at each job, title, duties) and
schooling/education. If you have
